Twitter is pritt(i)er
Twitter surprised us all today with a new look interface and some ajaxy goodness. I think the new interface is slick and is definitely a step in the right direction, as opposed to *ahem* Facebook’s recent efforts.
Changes include:
- AJAX goodness FTW! - for those not familiar with AJAX, AJAX allows a web page to update what it is displaying without having to reload the page…makes things a little faster and more like an application.
- Relocated the tabs to the side instead of across the top
- New Design Customiser to allow for easier templates/theme designs
- Some speed improvements and a more dynamic feel
- More Web 2.0-ier(!) with rounded corners on most text boxes (Firefox, Chrome and Safari only folks)
I think I need to update my theme to make the most of it and I think Twitter was starting to look a bit shabby around the edges and this is a big improvement. Now, as long as the reliability can be improved, then we will all be happy.
Twitter is a really addictive tool (proceed with caution, you’ve been warned!) and I’m just experimenting with it as a promotional tool for this blog and for my business interests. I found it considerably easier to attract new followers to my personal twitter account than to my business focussed one. It’s a little more challenging on my second time around, but I’m convinced it will be a great tool for getting the word out about all sorts of things.
Are you a Twitter user? What do you think of the changes? Let me know in the comments. Also, if you’re a Twitter user, and like what you read here, why not follow me? I can be found at http://twitter.com/besscabiz - God knows, I could use the followers… Cheers!
